Stephen Douglas Burke  

Was born in Emersion Missouri, Round Grove Township, Marion County.  March 16,  1879.  His giving name is Stephen A. Burk.  His Father is     ?   Burk, born in Ireland.  Stephen later went by Douglas S.A. Burke.  No birth, marriage records were recorded in Mo. before 1883.  I have found some Burk's in the area but none from Ireland.

His mother is Ida M. Kennedy (Burk) (Shumate) born in Mo. June 27, 1861.  Death April 22, 1935,  Wichita, Kansas.  Ida married ? Burk before 1879, they had a child named Stephen A. Burk.  Then Stephen was 3 years old Ida married James W. Shumate Aug. 17, 1883 in Lewis County Mo.  James was born in 1833 in Virginia.  James and Ida has two children Josie Diamond born 1885 in Mo. and Thomas Shumate born 1889 in Mo. Edward John Shumate born July 03, 1902.  Diamond married James F. Nayle or Nail May 19 1901.  They later moved to Wichita Kansas then on to OR. and are buried there in Multnomah County OR.  Josie died Jan. 1885.  James W. Shumate is buried in Perkins Ok. death April 20, 1909.

Ida  is the daughter of George B.Kennedy (born March 02, 1823 Ky),   George married Mahulda Hunsaker. They had 3 children, John William, Christina, Martha Jane Kennedy. 

George married again in 1859 to Sarah A. Kenoyer born abt 1825 in OH.  Sarah had been married before to Daniel Kenoyer and they had a son named Jacob Kenoyer.  Daniel died sometime after 1850.  Ida and George had children named Roseanna, Ida M. Kennedy.  Illinois State wide Marriage Index 1763-1900 Kennedy, G B to Kenoyer, Sarah A. Adams County 1/09/1859 *Note the divorce papers says Sarah E. Kennedy.

George married wife # 3 Margaret Emmazetta Caldwell (born Abt. 1844 Il.) Her father was born in Mo. and her mother was born in Va.  Click on link to find out more about George B. Kennedy.

As a young man Stephen  moved to Oklahoma in a early day before 1900,  with his mother and step father and his half sister and brother.  They settled in Perkins Township.   

Stephen married Alwilda (Allie) Webb May 5th 1901in Payne county Oklahoma.  When Stephen and Allie married they lived near Perkins at Clayton Township  (6 miles north of Perkins, no longer in existence). Allie was born in Moline Kansas in Nov. 4, 1882.  Allie was a very sweet lady and very beautiful with hair like silk.  Allie moved with her family on the Oklahoma land rush to homestead near Glencoe Oklahoma.

Child 1  Viola Burke (War then):    Birth Jan. 15, 1902 Clayton Township Death July 26, 1972.   She has a child Curtis Warthen.
Child 2  Elton Burke:   Birth Sept. 5, 1903  Perkins, OK. Death Feb. 5,  1987 Later changed his  name to Ed J. Burke. Ed married Ethel,  they had two children Kathy Burke (Sessler), Mary Lou Burke (Boitano)
Child 3  Beulah Burke (Hammon):   Birth Dec. 3 1904-1905 Perkins, Ok.   Death Nov. 27,  1970.
Child 4       Elsie Burke (Peet):   Birth Sept. 19 1908 Perry, Ok. Death Oct. 13 1985.  Elsie and  Opal Cheesman were great friends.
Child 5   Charles Lee Burke:   Birth April 9, 1911 Perry Ok. Death Dec. 1 1996 married Opal Paris Cheesman.  They had 2 children Charles Leon Burke, Deloris Jeanne Burke    (Ryan).
Child 6  Howard Edmond Burke:   Birth June 21, 1913 Rich Hill Mo.  Death Aug. 14 1978
Child 7   Myrtle Burke (Smith):    Birth Dec. 26,1915 Cushing, Ok.   Death March 3, 1984
Child 8    Bobby Burke:    Born Jan 24,1950 Cushing Ok. Death Aug. 19, 1982 in Oklahoma City, was in the U.S.   Army Stationed in Austria.  Later was a florist in Perkins.  Married Ilene Pendegraff of Edmond Ok.

Douglas married Allie May 5, 1901.  Doug was a painter by trade. Later Douglas left Allie with 8 children to care for.  Allie died in Sept, 12 1945.  Douglas married by 1930 Charlotte J. (Tula) Selig Jan. 22, 1936 until his death.  Allie never married again. Allie died Sept 12, 1945 of cancer. 

Douglas Death Jan. 23 1953.  Payne County Oklahoma and is buried in the New Zion Cemetery in Cushing Oklahoma. Allie is buried in the Fairlawn Cemetery in Cushing Ok.  The cemeteries  are located next to each other.  Charles & Opal Burke, Allie Burke are buried next to each other.   

Allie  father is  William Fredrick Webb born Sept. 8th 1842 in St. James, District of Clerkenwell, London England.  He died April 8th, 1924 and was Buried in Noble County Perry Oklahoma.  He was supposedly stowed away from England when he was 12 yrs old.  He was a Farmer and later a bank Janitor.  Buried at Grace Hill in Perry Ok.

Allie is the Daughter of Olive "Ollie" Baker (Webb) (mother) born  April, 1851 in Wyoming, Lee County Ill.  Ollie's Father was David Baker born June 5 1819 in Houlton, Aroostook, Maine.  Death Nov. 25th 1906 in Crawford, Dawers, NE. Buried in Moline Elk County, KS.  Married Rebecca Abell  1842 in Alymer, Ontario, Canada.

Rebecca is the mother of Olive Webb.  Rebecca was born Aug.28, 1822 in Aylmer, Elgin, Ontario Canada.  She died Dec.27, 1905 in Crawford, Dawes, NE. and was buried in Moline, Elk, Kansas.  They had 10 children listed below:
